Meeting # 334 of the Knights Of Cortez

Meeting # 334 of the Knights Of Cortez.   April 28, 2021

Today’s gathering was an OPEN meeting designed to meet one of the Los Cabo mayoral candidates, Profe Oscar Leggs Castro who will be on the municipal ballot of the upcoming June 6th elections.  This, the third “Meet the Candidate” gathering was held at the Villa Serina Restaurant and well attended by 15 members, 13 guests mostly from our sisters of the local “Tomatoes” organization. We had total of 28 attendees plus the candidate and his staff.

The meeting was called to order at 8.15 AM by Sir Bob. After a brief welcome remark, he introduced Sir Sergio Gonzales who then acted as meeting moderator and translator.

Sir Sergio then introduced Nohemi Romero, who discussed the candidates’ previous experiences and credentials. The candidate, known as Profe Leggs, served the community as deputy of District 8 from 2007-June 2008.  He then served a delegate for Cabo San Lucas from 2018-2021 working along with business people and citizens in the areas in the areas of street cleaning and maintenance and public lighting.

Candidate for Mayor of San Jose Del Cabo Profe Oscar Leggs Castro spoke for 22 minutes outlining his plans for the Municipality if elected.  He expressed concerns regarding poor management of potable water, misdirected funds for street repairs, trash and what he referred to as a large increase in stray digs in our streets. His focus was that the City has in place, managers who know little if anything at all about the departments they are hired to manage.  He stated that if elected, he would replace these mangers with individuals who had expertise and training is the areas in question.

An open forum of questions followed Profe Leggs remarks with most concerns expressed focusing upon the lack of water and uncontrolled development.  Profe Leggs responses reinforced his opening remarks.

It was announced that the next Knights of Cortez meeting would be held at Cascadas Beach Grill in the Los Cascadas Hotel on Medino Beach.

Breakfast was served by the wait staff of the restaurant and the meeting was adjourned at 9:50 AM.
